Wednesday night's Something's Happening at Midnight, 20 Dec.
Hi everyone,
Hope you are well.
I am dedicating time to explore the possibilities of peace in Palestine by bringing analyses of experts on Palestine-Israel, Middle East region, and the American Empire. We must demand immediate ceasefire now, release all political prisoners and hostages, and recognition and implementation of the 1967 UN 242 resolution; OR implement a One-state solution.
The bombing of Gaza, Palestine, has turned the “open air prison” city into stoneage rubble, according to reports. It is a fact that US made White Phosphorus bombs have been used by the Israeli army in Gaza. As of today, the death tollhas exceeded 20,000; 52,584 people have been injured; thousands and thousands are still missing and believed to be under rubble or their fate is unknown. Another UN ceasefire resolution was blocked by US. It has been reported by HR organization that Israel has been conducting field torture and executions of Palestinian detainees in Gaza. Israel has detained 93 medical personnel, at least 310 medical personnel have been killed, and 102 ambulances have been destroyed. At least 115 world leaders and intellectuals have signed a ‘declaration on genocide’ calling for an immediate ceasefire. Popularity of Hamas has increased three fold in Palestine. There are close to 10,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israel, a large portion of them are less than 18 years old and women. More than 50 journalists have been targeted killing, half of all globally, in 2023. According to the UN, 1.9M, 85% of Palestinian population, have been displaced. Healthcare system has completely collapsed; only 11 of hospitals are partially functional, according to WHO; 22 hospitals have been crippled; 26 primary care centers have been destroyed. The killing of Palestinian civilians by settlers in the West Bank continues unabated. More than 50,000 homes, 40% of all buildings, have been destroyed and more than 250,000 buildings have been damaged.
The sale of KPFK's building has not been finalized yet; the station on Saturday, 16 Dec., had its "surplus" books, CDs, DVDs, and other fund drive premiums, for sale and raised $8,000, which has already been spent.
